About The Position

The Security Officer maintains the overall security of an assigned facility by enforcing access control and observing, correcting, and reporting violations of applicable rules and regulations. The officer is expected to support and integrate Sizemore’s core values of Flexibility, Improvement, Reliability, Safety, and Teamwork into daily responsibilities.

Work takes place in a climate-controlled building and/or outdoors in varying weather conditions. The role involves extensive walking, standing, and sitting, and may involve threatening situations or exposure to bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids. The officer must be able to lift 50 pounds. The prescribed uniform and appearance standards require tattoos to be covered, prohibit tattoos on the head, face, neck, or hands, require facial piercings to be removed while on duty, and require clean-shaven facial hair except for a mustache and clean, neatly trimmed, naturally colored hair.

Continued employment depends on passing a criminal background check, a clean motor vehicle record check if driving, employment verification, and pre-employment and random employment drug screens.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school graduate or GED recipient.
• Demonstrate commitment to service and professionalism through appropriate conduct and demeanor.
• Show patience, tact, enthusiasm, and diplomacy when dealing with people in any circumstances.
• Use initiative and sound judgment when evaluating and reacting to situations.
• Ability to multitask and work under pressure in potentially stressful and time-sensitive situations.
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail, including the ability to prioritize.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, read and comprehend detailed instructions, and process information accurately and clearly.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Pass a criminal background check, employment verification, and pre-employment and random employment drug screens; pass a clean MVR check if driving.
• Meet the stated uniform and appearance standards.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in security, the military, or law enforcement is preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Office programs is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and secure environment for customers and employees by patrolling and monitoring premises and personnel.
• Document security activity in a Daily Activity Report (DAR) and complete incident reports as required.
• Control vehicle and personnel access according to established procedures.
• Respond to emergency situations according to established procedures.
• Operate specialized equipment as needed, including closed-circuit television systems, vehicle scales, and computer systems.
• Prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities and informing violators of policies and procedures.
• Identify projects to improve effectiveness and efficiency and support a culture of continuous improvement.
• Enforce Sizemore’s and the client’s policies and procedures.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
