About The Position

As an armed Security Officer in the Greater Harrisburg, Pennsylvania area, you will help safeguard clients and maintain a secure environment. You will conduct routine patrols, provide customer service and clear communication, and help deter security-related incidents. This armed post requires Pennsylvania Act 235 qualification and a valid Pennsylvania concealed carry weapons permit. The role is part-time, with a pay rate of $31.20 per hour; the schedule will be discussed during the interview process. Candidates must be at least 21 years old and able and willing to travel up to 40 miles from the Greater Harrisburg area. The position involves responding to incidents and alarms, enforcing site rules and procedures, assisting and escorting visitors, securing access points and classified information, and reporting safety concerns or unusual circumstances. Officers may act as first responders and provide first aid as needed. Work environments and conditions may vary by client site. Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and the stated relevant experience, meet the physical test requirements, and be able to walk and stand for long periods. Employment is subject to background investigation and drug screening as permitted by law. Unpaid, unsettled, or disputed federal taxes or federal loans will disqualify applicants. Licensing requirements may apply before employment; a valid driver’s license is required only for driving positions.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Possess a valid Pennsylvania Act 235 qualification.
Possess a valid Pennsylvania Concealed Carry Weapons permit.
Have at least two years of combined experience in armed security, law enforcement, armed corrections, or equivalent. The posting also states a minimum of three years of experience in Military Police, Corrections Officer, Armed Security, or as a Certified Law Enforcement Graduate.
Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Be able and willing to travel up to 40 miles from the Greater Harrisburg, Pennsylvania area.
Pass a physical that includes push-ups, sit-ups, and a cardiovascular-related stress test.
Be able to walk and stand for long periods.
Undergo a background investigation and, to the extent permitted by law, a drug screen.
Have no unpaid, unsettled, or disputed federal taxes or federal loans.
Meet applicable licensing requirements before employment where required.
Have a valid driver’s license if applying for a driving position.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service by carrying out security procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities when appropriate.
Respond to incidents and critical situations calmly and with a problem-solving approach.
Conduct regular and random patrols around the business and its perimeter.
Preserve order and enforce site rules, regulations, and directives.
Maintain proficiency in using assigned protective equipment, restraint devices, and weapons.
Greet guests and employees, assist as appropriate, escort visitors and contractors, secure ingress and egress points, and secure classified information.
Follow site-specific performance manuals and post orders.
Report safety concerns, security breaches, and unusual circumstances through written and verbal communication.
Coordinate with clients and other security personnel regarding execution of orders when appropriate.
Respond to and assess security and emergency alarms; act as a first responder and provide first aid as necessary.
