About The Position

Blackstone Consulting, Inc. is hiring a Healthcare Security Officer to support the security and care delivery team at a healthcare provider. The role involves maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, visitors, and the client, while providing professional, responsive service. Officers work in a fast-paced and changeable hospital environment, remain active, and may need to respond urgently to incidents. BCI provides training and career development opportunities.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years old.
Have a high school diploma or GED.
Have a reliable and functional means of communication, such as a cell phone.
Have the legal right to work in the United States.
Possess a valid government-issued driver’s license.
Hold an active state-issued guard card.
Successfully pass the client’s drug test, health screen, and criminal background check.
Be able to properly wear an N95 mask and adhere to onsite social-distancing guidelines.
Complete a healthcare competency assessment and training on defusing assaultive behavior.
Be willing to ride a bicycle.
Demonstrate the ability to learn, retain, and perform basic healthcare security functions; identify, educate, manage, and report security risks; communicate effectively with varied stakeholders and departments; provide professional, client-responsive service; and motivate, inspire, and influence others.

Responsibilities

Observe for signs of crime, disorder, hazards, and unusual activity.
Patrol on foot, bicycle, or in a vehicle to identify unsafe conditions, blocked entryways, security violations, mechanical problems, and unauthorized individuals.
Verbally and physically de-escalate individuals when needed.
Inspect security devices and fire control equipment.
Screen visitors, members, and client employees to facilitate admission to the facility.
Respond calmly and promptly to fires, medical emergencies, bomb threats, flooding, water discharges, elevator emergencies, hazardous materials incidents, and inclement weather.
Prepare accurate logs and investigative reports that can be understood by fellow officers and supervisors.
Read and interpret police reports, local and state laws, and procedure manuals.
Accurately enter information and maintain the Lost and Found department log according to departmental restrictions.
Ensure property removal follows applicable policies and client standards.
Complete the client’s pre-employment screening, including drug testing, health screening, and criminal background check.
Wear an N95 mask properly and follow onsite social-distancing guidelines.
Complete healthcare competency assessment and training in defusing assaultive behavior.
