About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring a part-time armed patrol Security Officer for an educational setting in Chicago, Illinois. The officer will help safeguard the campus, maintain a visible presence, conduct armed patrols, and support a welcoming environment. The role involves professional communication with students, staff, visitors, and campus partners, along with responding to security needs and emergencies. The posted pay rate is $20.50 per hour. Scheduled hours are Saturday and Sunday, 5:00 PM to 1:00 AM.

Requirements

At least 1 year of security-related experience.
A valid armed guard card or license.
At least 21 years of age for armed roles.
A high school diploma or equivalent.
Participation in industry-specific security training programs.
Applicants are subject to a background investigation in accordance with applicable laws.
Applicants are subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
A valid driver’s license is required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and campus partners while following security procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities.
Conduct regular and random armed patrols of campus buildings, parking areas, residence-related areas, and perimeter locations to deter unauthorized activity and identify concerns.
Respond calmly and professionally to incidents, alarms, medical emergencies, and critical situations; request assistance and coordinate with emergency responders when needed.
Monitor access points and visitor activity, report suspicious behavior and facility concerns, and document observations, incidents, and actions taken according to site-specific procedures.
Carry authorized equipment in accordance with applicable laws, Allied Universal policies, training requirements, and site-specific post orders.
