About The Position

As a Security Officer Residential Shelter in New York, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a shelter setting. As an unarmed patrol officer, you will monitor and patrol the shelter, maintaining a visible presence that helps deter incidents and supports a welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors. You will conduct routine rounds, report security-related concerns, respond professionally to situations, and provide customer service.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; armed roles require applicants to be at least 21.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Submit to a background investigation in accordance with applicable laws.
Submit to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
Meet licensing requirements that may apply under state and/or local laws and regulations before employment.
Possess a valid driver's license for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and service providers by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and appropriate emergency response activities.
Respond calmly and professionally to incidents, resident concerns, and critical situations, using problem-solving skills and documenting observations and actions taken.
Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of common areas, entrances, exits, exterior grounds, and perimeter areas.
Monitor access points and help maintain orderly entry and exit procedures in accordance with site-specific policies.
Report unusual activity, property concerns, policy violations, and maintenance-related hazards to appropriate site contacts and/or Allied Universal supervision.
