About The Position

As a Security Guard at a residential shelter in the Bronx, NY, you will safeguard residents, visitors, staff, and service providers while supporting a welcoming environment. You will monitor activity and access, conduct routine patrols, maintain a visible presence to help deter incidents, and respond to security-related concerns with integrity and professionalism. The role involves following site-specific procedures and policies, providing customer service, and responding to emergencies when appropriate.

Requirements

Possess a valid New York State Security Guard License.
Be at least 18 years old for unarmed roles or 21 or older for armed roles.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Submit to a background investigation as a condition of employment.
Submit to a drug screen as a condition of employment, to the extent permitted by law.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and service providers by following security procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities when appropriate.
Monitor access, verify authorized entry, and maintain visitor and incident documentation according to site procedures.
Respond calmly and respectfully to incidents, resident concerns, and critical situations; escalate matters to appropriate site contacts or emergency services as directed.
Conduct regular and random patrols of interior and exterior areas, including common spaces, entrances, and the perimeter, and report security-related concerns.
Support a welcoming and respectful environment by applying site rules consistently and using de-escalation techniques when appropriate.
