About The Position

As a Security Guard Residential Shelter in Jamaica, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients at a shelter location. In this unarmed patrol role, you will monitor assigned areas, conduct routine patrols, and maintain a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents. You will support residents, visitors, and staff through professional communication and customer service while responding to concerns and documenting activities. The position is full-time and pays $18.87 per hour. The listed schedule is 12:00 AM–8:00 AM on Monday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Requirements

Possess a valid New York State Security Guard License.
Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; armed roles require applicants to be at least 21.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Applicants are subject to a background investigation in accordance with applicable laws.
Applicants are subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
Licensing requirements are subject to state and local laws and may be required prior to employment.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and community partners while carrying out site-specific security procedures, policies, and emergency response activities.
Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of interior common areas, exterior grounds, entrances, parking areas, and the perimeter.
Monitor access points, verify authorized entry as directed by site procedures, and remain aware of visitor and resident activity.
Respond calmly and respectfully to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations, requesting additional support or emergency services when appropriate.
Accurately and promptly document observations, incidents, and patrol activities, and communicate relevant information to site leadership and Allied Universal management.
