About The Position

As an Unarmed Security Officer at a residential shelter in New York, NY, you will help safeguard residents, visitors, staff, and clients. You will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to help deter incidents, and support a welcoming environment. The role includes providing customer service, communicating clearly, and responding professionally to security-related concerns. The position is part-time, with a schedule of Wednesday 4:00 PM–12:00 AM and Friday 3:00 PM–11:00 PM. Pay is $18.87 per hour.

Requirements

Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles.
Applicants are subject to a background investigation, in accordance with applicable laws.
Applicants are subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
Meet applicable state and local licensing requirements; a license may be required before employment.

Nice To Haves

A Guard Card or license is preferred.
CPR and First Aid certification are preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and clients while following security procedures and site-specific policies, and participate in emergency response activities when appropriate.
Respond calmly and professionally to incidents, resident concerns, and critical situations; escalate matters according to site procedures.
Conduct regular and random patrols of residential buildings, common areas, entry points, grounds, and perimeter to deter unauthorized activity and identify security concerns.
Monitor property access, verify visitor and vendor authorization as directed, and report unusual activity or policy violations.
Complete activity logs, incident reports, and other documentation accurately and according to company and site procedures.
