About The Position

As a full-time Security Officer serving as a screener at a government location in Gaithersburg, Maryland, you will help maintain a secure environment by operating screening equipment, monitoring access points, and communicating professionally with employees and visitors. Your visible presence and attention to detail will help deter security-related incidents while supporting a welcoming experience. The role involves carrying out screening procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities. The position pays $22.09 per hour and is scheduled Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM.

Requirements

At least 2 years of security-related experience.
Must be 21 years of age or older.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Applicants are subject to a background investigation in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
Applicants are subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to visitors, employees, and members of the public while carrying out screening procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities at a government location.
Screen individuals and belongings using assigned screening equipment and established procedures; identify prohibited items and report concerns to appropriate personnel.
Verify access credentials and direct visitors to designated areas in accordance with entry requirements and site procedures.
Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, notifying appropriate personnel as needed.
Maintain accurate logs and complete required reports related to screening activities, visitor access, and incidents.
