About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring a part-time Security Officer for an assigned utilities location in Jackson, Mississippi. The position provides a designated weekly anchor shift requiring a six-month commitment, with the option to claim additional shifts through the company scheduling platform. Hours may vary from week to week, with the opportunity to build up to a full-time schedule of up to 40 hours per week. The listed pay rate is $14.18 per hour.

The officer provides customer service while carrying out security procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities. Duties include monitoring access control, verifying authorization, managing visitor credentials and records, controlling entry and exit, reporting unusual activity, responding to incidents and alarms, and conducting facility and perimeter patrols. Work environments and conditions may vary by location.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles or 21 years of age or older for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Submit to a background investigation as a condition of employment, in accordance with applicable laws.
• Submit to a drug screen as a condition of employment, to the extent permitted by law.
• Meet applicable state or local licensing requirements, which may be required before employment.
• Have a valid driver’s license for driving positions only.
• Commit to the designated site and weekly anchor shift for six months.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to personnel, visitors, contractors, and vendors while following security procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities.
• Monitor access control systems; verify identification and authorization; issue or retrieve visitor credentials; and maintain accurate access-related records.
• Control entry and exit at assigned access points, screen visitors and deliveries as directed, and report unauthorized access attempts or unusual activity.
• Respond calmly to incidents, alarms, and critical situations while following notification and emergency response procedures.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned facilities, access points, and perimeter areas to help deter unauthorized activity.
