About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring a part-time Security Officer for entry control at a logistics and distribution location in Birmingham, Alabama. The officer helps maintain a secure environment by monitoring entry points, verifying access credentials and delivery documentation, greeting visitors, and supporting site security procedures. The role requires a visible presence to deter incidents while providing professional customer service and clear communication. Officers may use Allied Universal’s Claim a Shift platform to view and claim additional shifts.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; armed roles require applicants to be at least 21.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Submit to a background investigation in accordance with applicable laws.
Submit to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
Meet any applicable state or local licensing requirements before employment, if required.
A valid driver’s license is required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to clients, drivers, visitors, and employees by following security procedures and site-specific policies, and performing emergency response activities when appropriate.
Monitor access points, verify credentials and delivery documentation, control entry and exit of authorized personnel and vehicles, and maintain visitor and driver logs.
Respond calmly to access-control alarms, incidents, and critical situations, escalating concerns according to site procedures.
Conduct regular and random patrols of access points, loading areas, parking areas, and the business perimeter to deter unauthorized entry and identify security concerns.
Communicate professionally with site personnel, transportation partners, and emergency responders.
Document incidents, observations, and access-control activities.
