About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring a full-time unarmed patrol Security Officer to support a government location in Portsmouth, Virginia. The officer will help safeguard the site by conducting routine patrols, maintaining a visible presence, monitoring assigned areas, and providing customer service and clear communication. The role involves following site-specific procedures, access requirements, and emergency response processes. The position pays $18.00 per hour. The listed schedule is Monday and Thursday from 1:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 1:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Requirements

Possess a TSA-issued TWIC.
Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Submit to a background investigation as a condition of employment, in accordance with applicable laws.
Submit to a drug screen as a condition of employment, to the extent permitted by law.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to port personnel, visitors, contractors, and drivers while following site-specific procedures, access requirements, and emergency response activities.
Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of port facilities, buildings, parking areas, gates, waterfront-adjacent areas, and perimeter locations to help deter unauthorized activity.
Monitor and report access-control concerns, unusual conditions, damaged property, suspicious activity, and other security-related issues according to site procedures.
Respond calmly and professionally to incidents, alarms, and critical situations; notify appropriate personnel or emergency responders as directed.
Maintain accurate activity logs, incident reports, and patrol documentation, and communicate professionally with site representatives and Allied Universal supervision.
