About The Position

As an Unarmed Patrol Officer at a government location, the Security Officer monitors and patrols assigned areas, maintains a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents, and provides customer service and communication. The role supports a welcoming environment through routine rounds, observation, and timely reporting. This is a part-time position scheduled Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM. The pay rate is $20.00 per hour.

Requirements

Possess a valid New York State Security Guard License.
Have at least one year of security-related experience.
Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Submit to a background investigation as a condition of employment, in accordance with applicable laws.
Submit to a drug screen as a condition of employment, to the extent permitted by law.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to visitors, employees, and government facility personnel by carrying out security-related procedures and site-specific policies, and participating in emergency response activities when appropriate.
Respond calmly to incidents, alarms, and critical situations; notify appropriate personnel and document activities according to site procedures.
Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of assigned areas, building exteriors, access points, parking areas, and perimeter locations to identify unusual activity and help deter unauthorized access.
Monitor access by verifying credentials, observing visitor activity, and following established entry and visitor-management procedures.
Prepare accurate reports and maintain required logs for patrols, incidents, observations, and security-related concerns.
