About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring a full-time unarmed Security Officer for a museum education setting in Chicago, Illinois. The officer will help safeguard visitors, students, faculty, staff, and vendors while supporting a welcoming environment. Duties include monitoring and patrolling assigned areas, maintaining a visible presence, providing customer service, and responding professionally to security concerns and incidents. The role is scheduled Wednesday through Sunday, 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM, and pays $19.50 per hour.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; armed roles require applicants to be at least 21.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Undergo a background investigation, subject to applicable federal, state, and local laws.
Undergo a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
Meet applicable licensing requirements, which may be required before employment.
A valid driver’s license is required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

A Guard Card or license is preferred.
CPR certification is preferred.
Customer service experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to visitors, students, faculty, staff, and vendors by carrying out security-related procedures and site-specific policies, and participating in emergency response activities when appropriate.
Respond calmly to incidents, visitor concerns, and critical situations, escalating matters according to established protocols.
Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of galleries, classrooms, public areas, entrances, and the surrounding perimeter to deter unauthorized activity and identify security concerns.
Monitor access points and visitor activity; report unusual conditions, maintenance concerns, and policy violations to appropriate personnel.
Prepare accurate reports and communicate with Allied Universal leadership and site representatives about incidents and daily activities.
