About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring a part-time, unarmed Security Officer Enhanced for a designated site in Chicago, Illinois. The role provides a fixed weekly anchor shift with a six-month commitment, with the option to claim additional shifts through the company’s scheduling platform. Additional shifts may allow employees to build up to a full-time schedule of as many as 40 hours per week, with the option to scale back. The listed pay rate is $19.00 per hour. The posted schedule is Sunday, 11:00 AM–6:00 PM.

The officer provides customer service and security support at a retail site, including patrols, access control, incident response, emergency preparedness activities, and reporting. Applicants must be at least 18 for unarmed roles and have a high school diploma or equivalent. Employment is subject to applicable background and drug screening requirements. State or local licensing may be required before employment.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; armed roles require applicants to be at least 21.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Submit to a background investigation as a condition of employment, in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
• Submit to a drug screen as a condition of employment, to the extent permitted by law.
• Meet any applicable state or local licensing requirements, which may be required before employment.
• Have a valid driver’s license only if applying for a driving position.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to clients, shoppers, and store personnel while carrying out security procedures, site-specific policies, and appropriate emergency response activities.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of retail sales areas, entrances, stock areas, and the surrounding perimeter, reporting unusual conditions or concerns.
• Assist with access control and visitor management by monitoring entry points and following site-specific procedures for employees, vendors, and deliveries.
• Respond calmly to incidents and critical situations, document observations, and notify appropriate personnel.
• Help deter theft, unauthorized access, and disruptive activity through a professional presence and timely reporting of suspicious behavior.
