Security Officer Property Screening
About The Position
As a part-time Security Officer Property Screening in an educational setting, you will help maintain a welcoming and secure environment by screening visitors and belongings, monitoring access points, and responding to security-related concerns. You will provide customer service and communicate with students, staff, visitors, and vendors while supporting a positive campus experience. The role includes following site-specific security procedures and emergency response activities, screening people and permitted items, responding to incidents, and conducting patrols. The posted pay rate is $19.00 per hour. The schedule is Thursday, 2:00 PM–10:00 PM, and Sunday, 10:00 PM–6:00 AM.
Requirements
- At least one year of security-related experience.
- At least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Applicants are subject to a background investigation in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
- Applicants are subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing may be required before employment, subject to state and/or local laws and regulations.
- A valid driver's license is required for driving positions only.
Nice To Haves
- Comfort using a computer or tablet.
- X-ray screening experience.
- Ability to lift more than 20 pounds.
- Customer service experience.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and vendors while carrying out site-specific security procedures and emergency response activities.
- Screen individuals entering the location under established access-control procedures, verify credentials, and direct visitors as appropriate.
- Operate screening equipment and inspect permitted items under posted policies and applicable procedures.
- Respond calmly to incidents and critical situations, using problem-solving skills and notifying appropriate personnel as needed.
- Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned areas and perimeter locations to deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
