About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring a full-time, unarmed Security Officer for a shelter location in Brooklyn, New York. The role involves maintaining a visible security presence, conducting patrols, monitoring access, responding to incidents, and providing respectful customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and service providers. The officer is expected to help maintain a safe and respectful environment for people experiencing housing instability. The scheduled hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The pay rate is $17.00 per hour.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age for an unarmed role.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Submit to a background investigation as a condition of employment, in accordance with applicable laws.
Submit to a drug screen as a condition of employment, to the extent permitted by law.
Meet any applicable state or local licensing requirements, which may be required before employment.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and service providers while following security procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency-response activities.
Respond calmly and respectfully to incidents, resident concerns, medical emergencies, and critical situations; notify appropriate site personnel or emergency services when needed.
Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of the facility, common areas, entrances, exits, and perimeter to deter unauthorized activity and identify potential hazards or maintenance concerns.
Monitor access points and verify authorized visitors and deliveries according to site procedures.
Accurately document observations, incidents, and required reports.
Maintain a professional, trauma-informed presence and support a respectful environment for individuals experiencing housing instability.
