Security Officer Part Time Entry Control
About The Position
Allied Universal is hiring a part-time Security Officer for entry control at a government transportation location in Amenia, New York. The position provides a fixed weekly schedule at an assigned site, with a six-month commitment to the designated shifts. Officers may also claim additional shifts through the company’s scheduling platform and may build up to a full-time schedule of up to 40 hours per week. The role provides customer service to passengers, visitors, and personnel while carrying out security procedures, site-specific policies, and appropriate emergency-response activities. The officer controls access to restricted areas, patrols assigned facilities and surrounding areas, responds to incidents and alarms, and documents observations and security activity. The listed pay rate is $22.12–$23.12 per hour. Scheduled shifts are Saturday and Sunday, 5:00 p.m.–1:00 a.m. The posting lists medical, dental, vision, basic life, AD&D, retirement, and disability benefits, along with paid holidays when worked and vacation for eligible assignments after one year of employment.
Requirements
- At least two years of security-related experience.
- At least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Applicants are subject to a background investigation in accordance with applicable laws.
- Applicants are subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements may apply under state and/or local laws and may be required before employment.
Nice To Haves
- A state-, county-, or city-issued security-related license is preferred.
- Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to passengers, visitors, and/or personnel while following security procedures and site-specific policies and participating in emergency-response activities when appropriate.
- Control access to restricted areas by verifying credentials, monitoring entry points, documenting visitor activity, and reporting unauthorized access attempts.
- Respond calmly to incidents, alarms, and critical situations, coordinating with site personnel and/or emergency responders as directed.
- Conduct regular and random patrols of transportation facilities, platforms, access points, and perimeter areas.
- Prepare clear and accurate reports of incidents, observations, access-control activity, and policy violations, and escalate information through established channels.
