About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring a part-time, unarmed Security Professional Flex Officer in Glendale, California, at $19.00 per hour. The officer will safeguard clients in industries such as healthcare, education, and finance. Using the company’s shift-pickup platform, officers can view and claim open shifts according to their availability and gain experience across different sites. The role may require working irregular shifts with little or no advance notice.

The officer performs patrols, monitors for security or safety concerns, controls access, responds to incidents and emergencies, maintains logs and reports, and assists customers, employees, and visitors professionally. The position offers medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, and disability insurance; retirement plans; holiday pay for eligible holidays worked; and vacation at eligible work assignments.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, or five years of verifiable experience.
• Meet applicable state and local licensing requirements, which may be required before employment.
• Valid driver’s license if driving a company- or customer-owned vehicle.
• Pass a background investigation, subject to applicable law.
• Pass a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Be at least 18 years of age, or older if required by state law (21 years if armed).
• Reliability and ability to adapt to different post assignments.
• Ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors.
• Demonstrated ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public.
• Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write informatively, clearly, and accurately.
• Active listening and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively and identify critical issues quickly and accurately.
• Ability to mediate conflict with tact and diplomacy.
• Teamwork and attention to detail.
• No prior experience required.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to speak, read, and write in multiple languages, such as Spanish, Portuguese, French, or Arabic.
• Prior security, military, or law enforcement experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform security patrols of designated areas on foot or in a vehicle.
• Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards.
• Sound alarms or call the police or fire department in case of fire or the presence of unauthorized persons.
• Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles.
• Permit authorized persons to enter property and monitor entrances and exits.
• Observe departing personnel to protect against theft of company property and ensure authorized removal of property complies with client requirements.
• Investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities; maintain written logs as required by the post.
• Aid customers, employees, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
• Make emergency notifications as necessary pursuant to site Post Orders.
