About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring a part-time Security Officer Screening Technician for an educational location in Lexington, Kentucky. The role helps create a welcoming environment by conducting access screening, monitoring entry points, and supporting security procedures. The technician interacts professionally with students, staff, and visitors while identifying and reporting concerns. The position pays $19.00 per hour and is scheduled Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

Requirements

At least 1 year of security-related experience.
At least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Applicants are subject to a background investigation in accordance with applicable laws.
Applicants are subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
Licensing requirements may apply under state or local laws and regulations and may be required before employment.
A valid driver's license is required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

Ability to lift more than 20 pounds.
Comfort using a computer or tablet.
X-ray screening experience.
Customer service experience.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and guests while following site-specific security procedures and policies.
Screen individuals, bags, packages, and personal belongings according to established procedures and applicable campus guidelines.
Monitor access points, verify credentials as required, and report unauthorized access attempts or prohibited items to appropriate personnel.
Respond calmly to incidents, alarms, and critical situations while following emergency response procedures.
Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned areas and the surrounding perimeter, document observations, and report unusual activity.
