About The Position

The Security Monitor I, Community Corrections supervises the facility population, including safety, security, and facility sanitation. The role provides for the care, custody, and control of residents and establishes a safe environment for the facility, staff, visitors, and residents.

The position monitors resident activity, conducts counts and searches, processes residents for intake and discharge, oversees resident workers where applicable, and performs rescue functions during accidents, emergencies, and disasters. The role may include administering basic emergency medical aid and CPR, moving people away from danger, and securing or evacuating people from confined areas.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED certification, or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing and apply problem-solving techniques to complex issues.
• Must be available to work any hours and any shift.
• Must complete pre-service and other training programs as required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Nice To Haves

• Work experience in the operations of a correctional facility is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the resident population and report suspicious activities or violations of policy, procedures, or regulations by residents or other individuals.
• Conduct resident counts, searches, room inspections, and vehicle searches as required.
• Conduct drug and alcohol testing as needed or as directed by facility administration.
• Process residents for intake and discharge in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Monitor resident worker activities, provide necessary instruction, and apply standards and procedures for the completion and quality of work performed by residents, where applicable.
• Perform rescue functions during accidents, emergencies, and disasters, including administering basic emergency medical aid and CPR, physically moving people away from dangerous situations, and securing and evacuating people from confined areas.
• Help maintain resident safety, facility security, and facility sanitation.
