Security Guard -Per Diem
About The Position
The primary responsibility of this role is to protect and safeguard employees, patients, visitors, and property by providing a visible deterrence to crime. The Security Guard will patrol the hospital building and grounds to prevent fires, theft, and vandalism. This position involves monitoring building access control, camera systems, and other critical building alarm systems, and reporting any unusual activities or outages. The Security Guard ensures only authorized personnel are admitted onto hospital premises, escorts individuals to and from parking areas, and assists motorists in need on hospital property. This role also includes maintaining lost and found logs, serving as a member of the Code Team, investigating incidents, and responding to emergency calls. The Security Guard is responsible for writing incident reports, documenting investigations, and enforcing hospital policies. Additionally, this role serves as a liaison with local law enforcement.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in security or law enforcement required.
- Must successful pass PMCS training.
- Registered as a Security Guard in NYS (preferred) or Completion with 90 days of employment
- Valid NYS Driver's License
- Ability to deal with the high stress possible in this job
- Ability to deal with disorderly and combative patients and visitors
- Ability to write reports
- Ability to respond to questions from staff, visitors. and patients
- Must become familiar with applicable federal, state, and local regulations
- Must be able to physically participate and respond to Code White situations.

Responsibilities
- Patrols building and grounds of Hospital to prevent fires, theft and vandalism.
- Monitors building access control, camera systems, and other critical building alarm systems regularly and reports any unusual trends, activities, or outages to Director of Facilities and Safety Officer(s).
- Ensures only authorized personnel are admitted onto Hospital premises.
- Escorts visitors, patients, personnel to and from parking areas.
- Assists motorist who become stranded on Hospital property.
- Maintains current information in lost and found logs. Notifies individuals when items reported as missing are located.
- Serves as a member of the Code Team and responds to all other Hospital codes.
- Investigates incidents of unusual circumstances reported by Hospital personnel, visitors, physicians or patients and reports all incidents, verbally or through general incident form, by the end of each shift.
- Maintains CPR, clinical restraint, and NYS Security Guard licensure / training.
- Writes incident reports and documents investigatory steps and results.
- Responds to emergency calls for assistance to control disorderly conduct or combative patients.
- Patrols parking lot areas to detect any irregularities.
- Inspects outgoing parcels as necessary to prevent theft of Hospital Property.
- Reports all safety and fire hazards observed on routine patrols and inspections to Safety Officer(s).
- Assists and gives courteous responses to any inquiries made by patients, visitors, or personnel.
- Enforces all Hospital policies/procedures as assigned by Administration and Director of of Facility Operations.
- Liaison with local law enforcement
