About The Position

Arizona Athletic Grounds (AAG) is a large, multi-use family, sport, and entertainment complex in Mesa, Arizona, with indoor and outdoor athletic facilities. Its mission is to provide families with a safe, friendly, high-quality environment for sporting, artistic, educational, and entertainment experiences. The part-time Security Guard helps maintain safety for guests and employees by inspecting and patrolling the premises, monitoring entrances, responding to alarms, reporting suspicious activity, and assisting people in need. The position requires availability for a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, as well as work in adverse weather conditions.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least 18 years of age.
Valid Arizona driver's license.
Hold a Guard Card or obtain one within four months of hire.
Be registered as a security officer with the State of Arizona/Department of Public Safety.
Understand legal guidelines for area security and public safety.
Ability to write reports for review and approval through the AAG security chain of command.
Strong observation skills.
Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work a flexible schedule depending on events, including late nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Eligible to work in the United States.
Successful completion of a criminal background check is required for any job offer.

Nice To Haves

At least one year of prior Security Guard/Officer experience or equivalent.
Training in First Aid/BLS and self-defense.

Responsibilities

Follow and report to the AAG Security Department chain of command while working as a security officer.
Inspect and patrol the premises regularly.
Monitor property entrances.
Authorize the entrance of people and vehicles.
Report suspicious behaviors and activities.
Secure exits, doors, and windows.
Respond to alarms in a timely manner.
Assist people in need.
Submit reports of daily surveillance activity.
Submit reports of suspicious actions.
Perform other related duties as assigned to support the effective and efficient function of the work unit.
Assist other Arizona Athletic Grounds departments when requested.
