About The Position

Harvard Protection Services is seeking a Security Guard to provide professional, customer-focused security and life-safety services for people and property. The role supports the company’s goal of maintaining a safe and secure environment and may vary depending on the customer location assigned. Officers are expected to provide attentive service, maintain a visible presence, monitor activity, and follow facility procedures and emergency plans.

Requirements

Hold any security officer license mandated by the state or municipality.
Have at least a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Have a security guard license or be able to obtain one within an acceptable period.
Have reliable means of communication and transportation.
Demonstrate strong interpersonal communication skills.
Maintain a neat and professional appearance.
Be able to write routine correspondence, including log entries and incident reports.
A driver's license is required, as indicated in the job title.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in contract security, law enforcement, the military, or customer service.

Responsibilities

Maintain a professional demeanor and assist customers, employees, visitors, and guests.
Maintain a visible presence in the assigned facility or building.
Monitor the environment and identify suspicious or unsafe activity.
Become familiar with incoming and outgoing traffic and recognize customers, tenants, visitors, and guests.
Greet customers, visitors, staff, tenants, and guests professionally.
Answer phones professionally.
Allow authorized persons to enter the property and monitor entrances and exits.
Learn and enforce facility or building policies and procedures within the limits of the position.
Conduct required patrols of designated areas on foot or in a vehicle.
Observe departing personnel to help prevent theft of company property and ensure property removal is authorized under customer requirements.
Follow established emergency action plans and procedures.
Monitor alarms and systems.
Prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities as directed.
