About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring a Security Guard for a part-time enhanced property protection role at an assigned site in Newport, Rhode Island. The position provides a fixed weekly anchor shift with a six-month commitment, with the option to claim additional shifts through the company’s scheduling platform. Additional shifts may allow employees to increase their hours, potentially up to 40 hours per week, while retaining the flexibility to scale back. The listed pay rate is $21.22 per hour.

The role serves a healthcare environment, providing security-related customer service to patients, visitors, staff, and vendors. The guard monitors access and visitor activity, conducts patrols, documents observations, reports unusual activity, and responds professionally to incidents and emergencies in coordination with hospital personnel and first responders.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; armed roles require applicants to be at least 21.
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Submit to a background investigation as a condition of employment, in accordance with applicable laws.
• Submit to a drug screen as a condition of employment to the extent permitted by law.
• Meet any applicable state or local licensing requirements; licensing may be required before employment.
• Have a valid driver’s license if applying for a driving position.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to patients, visitors, staff, and vendors by following security procedures, site-specific policies, and appropriate emergency response activities.
• Monitor access points and visitor activity in accordance with hospital policies; assist with directions and access questions, and report incidents.
• Respond calmly and professionally to incidents, medical emergencies, and critical situations, coordinating with hospital personnel and first responders.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned hospital areas, including entrances, parking areas, and perimeter locations; document observations and report unusual activity.
• Help maintain a professional and welcoming healthcare environment by addressing security-related concerns and supporting staff, patients, and visitors.
