TEMP Security Guard (Lambuth Campus)
About The Position
The University of Memphis is hiring a temporary Security Guard for the Lambuth Campus. Temporary appointments are limited to no more than one year at a time and are intended to meet short-term or limited-duration staffing needs. Appointments are subject to annual review and may be renewed based on departmental need, funding, performance, and applicable University requirements; renewal is not automatic, and temporary employment does not guarantee continued employment or placement in a permanent position. Temporary employees seeking future opportunities must maintain an active, current application/profile in the University's applicant system and meet the qualifications for each position.
Requirements
- Must present a Tennessee Security Officer License.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States; the University is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa.
Responsibilities
- Patrol campus to deter crime and maintain building security.
- Patrol parking facilities to prevent theft and vandalism and issue citations as appropriate.
- Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, including equipment or property damage, theft, unauthorized persons, and unusual occurrences.
- Call police or fire departments in emergencies, such as fires or the presence of unauthorized persons.
- Respond to alarms and investigate disturbances.
- Assist police officers in apprehending and arresting suspects and filing charges when appropriate.
- Respond to security alarms and check for intruders and burglars.
- Check buildings to ensure doors are locked, windows are closed, and lights are turned on or off as appropriate.
- Provide security escort service for students and employees.
- Perform other related duties as required.
