Security Engineer, Infrastructure

Render is seeking engineers with deep specialization in securing cloud infrastructure platforms, particularly with experience in container security. As an early-stage member of the team, you will have the opportunity to design, build, and secure the cloud infrastructure, shaping the product and impacting developers globally. Responsibilities include planning and designing for Render's security needs, developing and maintaining infrastructure security services, and collaborating with other engineers to ensure platform stability and security. Experience with major cloud providers, diagnosing and fixing security reliability problems, and securing Kubernetes or other container orchestration tools is required. Nice-to-haves include experience with infrastructure-as-code tools and securing SaaS platforms. The starting salary for this role ranges from $150,000 to $220,000 USD.

• Plan and design for Render's security needs as the infrastructure is built out
• Help design and build security and observability tools to monitor infrastructure security
• Develop, implement, and maintain infrastructure security services
• Collaborate with other engineers to ensure platform stability, predictability, and security
• Participate in the on-call rotation with the security team
• Design and build security systems and tools, particularly with a major cloud provider
• Diagnose and fix security reliability problems in cloud infrastructure workloads
• Apply security hardening skills, especially in the context of untrusted workloads
• Secure Kubernetes or other container orchestration tools
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform, Pulumi, and Ansible (nice-to-have)
• Experience building out security, particularly as an early engineer at a rapidly growing startup, specifically securing SaaS platforms (nice-to-have)

• Experience designing and building security systems and tools, particularly with a major cloud provider

• Starting salary between $150,000 and $220,000 USD
