About The Position

The Security Dispatcher is a pivotal member of the Safety and Security department, coordinating actions provided to patients, visitors, and employees of Community Health Network. The dispatcher monitors activity and provides appropriate immediate responses to matters involving public safety, property protection, risk management, customer and staff education, investigations, parking, and security contract services. The role coordinates radio traffic between Hospital Security and local police and fire, retains cross-training for all Community Health Network sites, and may work in high-stress emergencies to coordinate security resources.

Requirements

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to obtain essential information.
• Ability to appropriately evaluate and respond to incoming activity.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local municipal agencies and city departments.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Must successfully complete Central Dispatch Officer written and practical testing after the training period is completed.

Nice To Haves

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and/or equivalent experience in public safety.
• Previous security, law enforcement, or central station operations experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate Safety and Security department actions for patients, visitors, and employees.
• Monitor incoming activity and provide appropriate immediate responses involving public safety, property protection, risk management, customer and staff education, investigations, parking, and security contract services.
• Coordinate the reception and transmission of radio traffic between Hospital Security and local police and fire.
• Maintain cross-training for all Community Health Network sites.
• Coordinate security resources during potentially high-stress emergencies.
