Tacora Resources Inc. (Tacora) is an innovative iron ore mining and development company focused on the acquisition and revitalization of iron ore assets. Our mining and processing facility, Scully Mine, is located in Wabush, Labrador, Canada. Tacora is servicing high demand customers throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Asia to provide high-grade and high-quality iron ore products. This is a 6-month contract position based in Labrador West, NL. This position will require candidates to work a rotating schedule including days, nights, and weekends.

Requirements

  • Experience in emergency response, fire services, or security operations.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to respond calmly under pressure.
  • Comfortable with shift work and physically demanding tasks.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and situational awareness.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Driver's License (Required)
  • Clear code of conduct Certificate with vulnerable sectors check

Nice To Haves

  • Previous work experience in Law enforcement is considered an asset
  • Previous work experience in a mining or industrial environment is considered an asset.
  • AMFR, EMR, or PCP certification preferred
  • NFPA 1001 Level I and II (preferred)
  • NFPA 1006 – Technical Rescue Certification or other approved technical rescue training (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and control access to site facilities and restricted areas.
  • Conduct routine patrols, security checks, and surveillance of critical infrastructure.
  • Respond to and document security incidents, unauthorized access, and policy breaches.
  • Assist with the enforcement of company rules and regulations, and support workplace investigations.
  • Respond to site emergency incidents.
  • Provide initial scene assessment, perform stabilization, and support recovery operations.
  • Participate in scheduled training, drills, and emergency standby coverage for high-risk tasks.
  • Maintain and inspect emergency response equipment, including SCBA, extinguishers, first aid supplies and technical rescue equipment.
  • Perform inspections of fire extinguishers, AEDs, emergency showers, and other safety equipment.
  • Assist with hazard identification, reporting, and corrective action implementation.
  • Support proactive safety initiatives and contribute to the continuous improvement of emergency preparedness.
  • Maintain accurate and timely logs, inspection records, and incident reports.
  • Operate radios and communication systems in line with site protocols.
  • Liaise with external emergency services as required and assist during mutual aid events.
