Requirements

  • CPR and Basic First Aid Certification (required).
  • 3-5 years security or emergency response supervisory and leadership experience.
  • Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergencies.
  • Strong written communication and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with older adults, families, staff, and external emergency responders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in security operations, emergency response, law enforcement, healthcare security, senior living, hospitality, military service, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise all Security Officers across first, second, and third shifts.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, train, coach, evaluate, and, oversee the performance management process.
  • Develop and maintain security staffing schedules to ensure 24/7 campus coverage while managing overtime and staffing efficiency.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings, performance evaluations, and one-on-one coaching sessions.
  • Foster a culture of professionalism, customer service, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Coordinate coverage for vacations, call-outs, and other absences.
  • Serve as the primary first-shift emergency response leader for resident calls for assistance, including pendant activations, pull-cord activations, wellness checks, and other emergency situations.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide CPR and Basic First Aid within the scope of training and certification.
  • Coordinate emergency response efforts with CM's Nurse-On-Call, local fire, EMS, police, and healthcare providers when necessary.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of emergency preparedness and response procedures.
  • Conduct incident investigations and prepare detailed reports documenting emergency events and responses.
  • Conduct life-safety checks and building safety and equipment assessments as assigned.
  • Oversee daily security operations across a large multi-building senior living campus operating 24 hours per day.
  • Ensure consistent enforcement of community policies, procedures, and access control protocols.
  • Monitor and evaluate patrol activities, building security measures, and campus safety initiatives.
  • Review incident reports from 2nd, 3rd, and weekend shifts for relevance, accuracy, and further training and development purposes. After ensuring and editing for accuracy, forward these on daily (Monday for weekend reports) to our internal Care Team.
  • Conduct routine security assessments and identify opportunities to reduce risk and improve resident safety.
  • Ensure proper operation of security equipment, surveillance systems, emergency communication devices, and access control systems.
  • Maintain key control and lock management, as assigned.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, thefts, property damage, policy violations, and resident concerns.
  • Prepare accurate reports and maintain documentation required for regulatory, insurance, and organizational purposes.
  • Analyze incident trends and recommend corrective actions to reduce future occurrences.
  • Collaborate with leadership team members and others to identify and mitigate safety and security risks throughout the community.
  • Develop and administer department training programs, including emergency response, de-escalation, customer service, and safety procedures.
  • Ensure all department certifications, licenses, and training requirements remain current.
  • Conduct emergency drills and participate in community-wide preparedness exercises.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and organizational safety and security requirements.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to residents, families, visitors, and team members.
  • Respond professionally and compassionately during emergencies and stressful situations.
  • Serve as a resource for resident concerns related to safety, security, and emergency preparedness.
  • Build positive relationships with residents while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
  • Partner with Social Workers, Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing, Facilities, Resident Services, Human Resources, Administration, and others to support community operations.
  • Assist with special events, traffic management, weather-related operations, and campus-wide emergency planning.
  • Coordinate with Facilities leadership regarding life safety systems, physical security improvements, and risk mitigation initiatives.
  • Manage departmental budgets, equipment inventories, uniforms, and supplies.
  • Prepare reports, metrics, and recommendations related to security operations, incident trends, and staffing performance.
  • Maintain department policies, procedures, and operational standards.
  • Participate in leadership-team meetings and contribute to organizational initiatives related to resident safety and security.
