About The Position

As a Retail Associate, you serve as a brand ambassador and help ensure exceptional in-store experiences through positive customer interactions. You use problem-solving and sales skills to answer customer questions and make product recommendations while supporting Columbia Sportswear Company’s values of customer service and teamwork. Associates help maintain product availability and visual displays, address customer inquiries, and operate checkout efficiently while supporting the Store Leadership team and the company’s mission of “Connecting Active People with Their Passions.”

The role requires flexible retail-schedule availability, which may change seasonally and in response to location-specific business trends or forecasts. Applicants must be at least 16 years old. No specific education is required; a high school diploma or GED is preferred. The stated experience requirement is two years or less in a position or specialization.

Requirements

• At least 16 years of age.
• Two years or less of experience in a position or specialization.
• Skill operating inventory and point-of-sale (POS) systems and other retail software tools.
• Ability to communicate clearly with others.
• Availability to work a flexible retail schedule that may change seasonally and in response to business trends or forecasts.

Responsibilities

• Respond to customer questions or issues about product features, benefits, and availability, and engage with customers to understand their needs and preferences.
• Demonstrate and explain merchandise, and suggest suitable options to customers.
• Maintain store standards for visual merchandising, cleanliness, and safety.
• Retrieve merchandise from the sales floor, stock room, or other inventory locations.
• Perform cash register transactions, including sales, returns, exchanges, and connecting customers to the loyalty program, accurately and efficiently.
• Receive, handle, replenish, and process incoming and outgoing product flow accurately and efficiently.
