About The Position

This seasonal store role supports customer service, checkout, truck unloading, stocking, and merchandise recovery at the Michaels store in Germantown, Maryland. Team members help customers find products and solutions, provide a fast and friendly checkout, and maintain a well-merchandised, in-stock store while following company standards and safety requirements. The role also includes cross-training in Custom Framing sales and production, and other duties as assigned.

The work takes place in a public retail store. Public areas are climate controlled, while some stock rooms may not be. Some outdoor work may be required when retrieving shopping carts or unloading trucks. The frame shop contains a glass cutter and heat press. Work hours include nights, weekends, and early mornings. Applicants must be at least 16 years old and meet applicable federal, state, and local legal requirements.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Must satisfy applicable federal, state, and local legal requirements of the job.
• Ability to remain standing for long periods.
• Ability to move throughout the store.
• Ability to bend, lift, carry, reach, and stretch regularly.
• Ability to lift heavy boxes and access high shelves using a ladder or similar equipment.

• Retail and/or customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Help customers shop, locate products, and find solutions.
• Provide a fast and friendly checkout experience and handle cash according to standards.
• Engage customers about the Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and complete enrollments.
• Educate customers about the Voice of Customer (VOC) survey.
• Assist with omnichannel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS).
• Participate in truck unloading, stocking, and planogram (POG) processes.
• Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance, including returns/go-backs and general store recovery.
• Perform Store In Stock Optimization (SISO) and ad set duties as assigned.
• Support shrink and safety programs.
• Follow standard operating procedures, company programs, policies, and standards to ensure compliance with applicable laws and requirements.
• Interact with others respectfully, remain positive in difficult situations, promote company values, and serve as a positive role model for team members.
• Cross-train in Custom Framing sales and production.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
