About The Position

Filoli is hiring a full-time, seasonal Facilities Technician to support its Holiday Lights celebration from mid-October through mid-January. The entry-level role supports facilities operations, event infrastructure, deliveries, inventory, property upkeep, maintenance, safety, and visitor service at Filoli Historic House & Garden in Woodside, California. The schedule is Friday through Tuesday, 1:30 PM to 10:00 PM, and requires flexibility. The posting lists compensation as $26.00 per hour and also gives a salary range of $94,000 to $105,000 per year, depending on candidate experience. The position reports to the Facilities Project Manager. The technician will work across the estate, including on uneven terrain and around event spaces and garden grounds. Physical tasks include climbing ladders, standing, kneeling, bending, and lifting or carrying up to 60 pounds. The role offers hands-on experience alongside facilities professionals and contributes to the holiday experience for visitors.

Requirements

1–3 years of experience in building or property maintenance, or related hands-on work.
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Valid driver’s license.
Mechanical aptitude and ability to operate basic tools and small equipment safely.
Basic proficiency with Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
Ability to walk on uneven terrain, climb ladders, stand, kneel, bend, and lift or carry up to 60 pounds.

Nice To Haves

Experience in historic preservation.
Experience in trades such as carpentry, basic plumbing, electrical work, HVAC, or welding.

Responsibilities

Set up and break down event furniture and troubleshoot special-event lighting.
Move plant racks and platforms, stock event paper goods and beverages, and replace propane tanks for guest firepits.
Receive freight deliveries, unload and store oversized items such as fountains and statuary, and deliver stock to the Garden Shop area.
Collect garbage, break down boxes, and recycle cardboard.
Assist with routine and unscheduled repairs, including basic carpentry, basic plumbing, minor electrical work, HVAC filter changes, and painting.
Assist with seasonal groundswork, including brush clearing, mowing, and road repair.
Maintain clean workspaces and keep the property pristine.
Provide customer service to visitors and vendors.
Assist with site safety and emergency response.
