About The Position
The Barista sells and prepares Starbucks coffee beverages according to Starbucks standards, providing caring hospitality and exceptional customer service through product knowledge. The role includes working across coffee, beverage, espresso, and pastry stations; maintaining station, equipment, product presentation, and merchandising standards; and following applicable company, Starbucks, and Health Department procedures. Schedules depend on business needs and colleague availability and include weekend shifts. The posting describes this as a seasonal position but does not specify whether it is full-time or part-time.
Requirements
- Ability to read and interpret instructional documents, including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule with retail hours, including day, evening, weekend, and/or holiday shifts.
- Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods; the role may involve reaching, crouching, kneeling, and stooping.
- Frequent use of computers and other technology, including handheld equipment and cash registers, and ability to process register transactions.
- Ability to frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities
- Demonstrate current working knowledge of drip coffee, cold beverage, espresso bar, and pastry stations.
- Maintain the work area and equipment according to company and Health Department standards.
- Follow Starbucks Simple Service Steps and Magic Selling skills to provide an exceptional customer experience.
- Educate, sample, and serve customers food and beverage products.
- Perform station-specific duties and responsibilities.
- Open and/or close the area using the appropriate checklist and verify completion with the Manager on Duty before leaving.
- Maintain PAR stock levels and product presentation standards.
- Prepare and present products according to Starbucks recipes while meeting speed-of-service standards.
- Follow Starbucks merchandising and signing standards.
- Maintain personal hygiene and professional dress in compliance with company, Starbucks, and Health Department standards.
- Perform other duties as needed.
