About The Position

Fortune Fish & Gourmet is hiring for its Seafood Department during a period of rapid business growth. This role processes a variety of seafood products and supports a safe, timely, team-oriented production environment. Employees work with raw fish and shellfish and are regularly exposed to cool, wet, or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The position requires willingness to work in a cold climate of 35º and to wear required protective safety gear. Requirements

• 2–3 years of cutting/filleter experience.
• 2–3 years of experience using fillet knives and food-processing equipment and applying food-safety practices in a fast-paced environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic English speaking and written proficiency, including the ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to work with seafood, including various types of fish and shellfish.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the work shift.
• Demonstrated sense of urgency in meeting critical and time-sensitive deadlines.
• Willingness to work in a cold climate of 35º.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice To Haves

• Product and industry knowledge; fish and seafood handling preferred.
• Seafood experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sort, butcher, clean, weigh, and box various seafood products.
• Wear required protective safety gear and promote and maintain a safe working environment.
• Follow directions and adhere to work rules.
• Work with other departments in a team atmosphere and in a multicultural environment.
• Maintain prompt and reliable attendance.
• Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
