About The Position

As a Seafood Processor, you will be a vital member at one of our Alaskan processing facilities, assigned to various positions in the production department including butchering, sorting, filleting, and case-up. You are also required to participate in plant clean-up and other similar or related duties as requested or assigned by your department Supervisor or Lead.

Requirements

  • Adherence to food safety regulations and practices to prevent contamination.
  • Ability to identify and ensure the quality of seafood products.
  • Ability to manage time properly and be punctual.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with other team members in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to sometimes perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting and cutting seafood.
  • Flexibility to adjust to changing production schedules and product demands.
  • Previous seafood industry experience is a plus.
  • We also welcome employees with no prior experience or training.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance.
  • Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  • Frequently use interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Regularly required to understand English and utilize teamwork skills.
  • Frequently required to speak English and use decision making skills.
  • Occasionally required to use mentoring skills, problem analysis, training, and supervision skills.
  • Occasionally required to read and write in English, perform basic math, exercise independent judgment, and use discretion.
  • Must be able to withstand moderate to elevated levels of stress.

Responsibilities

  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Clean, scrape, trim and fillet products
  • Open and remove raw materials and place on belts
  • Segregate product on conveyor belt or table according to grade, color, and size, and place product in containers or on designated conveyors
  • Gather, weigh and tally roe baskets
  • Use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms for extended periods of time
  • Discard substandard or defective items and foreign objects
  • Pack products in baskets, cans, boxes, barrels, totes or crates for storage or shipment
  • Review workspace for cleanliness and safety
  • Help clean up the plant
  • Always be on time for your shift
  • Basic communication with English speakers
  • Read, write, and recognize similarities and differences between words and series of numbers
  • Basic math such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with 10's and 100's
  • Perform job operations using the units of measurement, weight, volume, and distance
  • Visually identify defects in seafood products.
  • Other duties are to ensure the facility and organization is fully supported and successful.
