About The Position

The Seafood Manager is a primary contact for Safeway customers and provides friendly, courteous, and helpful service. The role is accountable for department results, including superior customer service, increasing sales, improving gain, and containing costs. The manager follows division guidelines for implementing the merchandising program and trains, schedules, supervises, and assigns duties to seafood clerks.

The position involves preparing and packaging seafood for sale, maintaining product displays and department cleanliness, ordering supplies and product, receiving shipments, and monitoring freezer and cooler temperatures. The manager also addresses customer concerns and ensures that expired items are removed from shelves daily.

Requirements

• Ability to follow company customer service procedures.
• Demonstrated prior customer service skills or related experience.
• Ability to interact with customers and co-workers.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions.
• Previous experience as a seafood clerk.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service according to employer procedures and company policy.
• Train, schedule, supervise, and assign duties to seafood clerks to maintain appropriate staffing.
• Speak with customers to resolve problems related to the Seafood department.
• Follow division guidelines for implementing the merchandising program.
• Cut, clean, weigh, wrap, package, and display seafood for sale.
• Operate an electronic scanning scale to record the weight of packaged items and apply price tags.
• Obtain items from the case for customers’ special orders.
• Maintain seafood department cleanliness, including cleaning spills, surfaces, and equipment used for cutting and wrapping.
• Replace stock in seafood displays and remove expired items from shelves daily.
• Perform daily inventory and order product and supplies as needed.
• Receive shipments and log freezer and cooler temperatures.
• Monitor inter-office mail and the company web page daily for updated information.
• Make department signs as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
