About The Position

The Seafood Manager is a primary contact for Safeway customers and provides friendly, courteous, and helpful service. The role is accountable for department results, including superior customer service, increased sales, improved gain, and cost containment. The manager follows division guidelines for merchandising and trains, schedules, supervises, and assigns duties to seafood clerks. The position also prepares seafood for sale, orders supplies, receives shipments, logs freezer and cooler temperatures, and maintains a clean department.

Requirements

• Ability to follow company customer service procedures.
• Demonstrated prior customer service skills or related experience.
• Ability to interact with customers and coworkers.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions.
• Previous experience as a seafood clerk.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service according to employer procedures and company policy.
• Train, schedule, and supervise seafood clerks to ensure appropriate department staffing.
• Speak with customers and resolve problems related to Seafood department operations.
• Follow division guidelines for implementing the merchandising program.
• Cut, weigh, wrap, package, and clean seafood for sale, and place products in the display area.
• Operate an electronic scanning scale to record the weight of packaged items.
• Apply price tags to wrapped items.
• Retrieve items from the case for customer special orders.
• Maintain cleanliness in the seafood area, including cleaning spills, surfaces, and cutting and wrapping equipment.
• Replenish seafood displays and remove expired items from shelves daily.
• Perform daily inventory and order products and supplies to maintain adequate inventory.
• Receive shipments and order supplies.
• Log freezer and cooler temperatures.
• Monitor inter-office mail and the company web page daily for updated information.
• Make department signs as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
