About The Position

Under the supervision of the OR Manager and the OR Coordinator, the Scrub Tech 3 prepares and maintains medical equipment for surgical procedures and assists with patient care under the direction of a registered nurse or physician. The role involves passing instruments and sterile supplies to physicians, assembling equipment and instruments for procedures, and preparing and cleaning instruments for sterilization. It also includes dressing and cleaning wounds after procedures.

The position requires reaching, grasping, handling, and/or feeling for five or more hours per day, along with sufficient visual and auditory acuity to perform the work. The work environment may involve chemicals, solvents, needles and sharps, blood and body fluids, infectious or communicable diseases, infectious medical waste, radiation or radioactive materials and waste, and proximity to moving mechanical parts. Protective clothing or equipment may be necessary.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited school of surgical technology or equivalent training in clinical surgery.
• Current CPR certification.
• Sufficient visual acuity to prepare and clean instruments for sterilization and dress and clean wounds after procedures.
• Sufficient auditory acuity to correctly pass instruments and other sterile supplies to physicians upon request.
• Ability to reach, grasp, handle, and/or feel for five or more hours per day.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One to three years of previous surgery experience in at least two specialty areas.
