About The Position

MercyOne is seeking a Surgical Technician to join its Operating Room. The technician prepares the operating room for surgical procedures, including instruments, equipment, and supplies, and maintains the sterile field during procedures. The role primarily scrubs general cases, which may include general surgery, gynecology, urology, podiatry, and plastics, and may also serve as the second, third, or fourth scrub in all surgical specialties. The technician follows MercyOne’s performance expectations and performs services and related duties in accordance with the organization’s mission, vision, values, and cultural beliefs. This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week, working days. Available schedules are 6:45 a.m.–3:15 p.m. or 6:45 a.m.–5:15 p.m., with 8- and 10-hour shifts available. Requirements

Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology, completion of a surgical technician apprenticeship or military program, or graduation from an LPN program with surgical experience; equivalent experience demonstrating competency is also accepted.
No prior experience is required.
BLS certification.
Mandatory Reporter training or qualification.
Ability to work with diverse groups of people and under pressure, with a high degree of independence and accountability.
Ability to accept responsibility for directing, controlling, or planning an activity.
Adaptability to perform varied duties and change tasks without loss of efficiency or composure.
An LPN license is required for candidates who qualify through graduation from an LPN program.
CST certification is required within 18 months of hire for colleagues working in Illinois.

Nice To Haves

CST certification is preferred but not required in Iowa.
