Scoop Shop Team Member
About The Position
The Scoop Shop Team Member performs daily operations at Ben & Jerry’s original factory Scoop Shop in Waterbury, Vermont, providing customer service and memorable brand experiences. The role works with a large team within the Scoop Shop and the broader Hospitality department, which also includes Gift Shop and Tour operations, and reports to the Scoop Shop Experience Hospitality Manager. Daily work includes taking orders, processing register transactions, scooping ice cream, preparing menu items and baked goods, maintaining and cleaning the shop, and completing opening and closing procedures. Team members help guests during busy periods, follow operational and safety standards, support emergency response procedures, and help create a fun, safe, clean, high-energy guest experience. This is a part-time holiday-season position. Applicants acknowledge that, if hired, their anticipated start date will fall between late August and mid-September.
Requirements
- Be at least 16 years of age.
- Represent and have passion for the Ben & Jerry’s brand.
- Be enthusiastic about working in Scoop Shop operations.
- Have customer service experience and take initiative in customer interactions.
- Have awareness of food safety and cleanliness.
- Be comfortable handling cash and operating POS systems.
- Have experience with public speaking.
- Demonstrate time management skills and reliable attendance.
- Work efficiently and be able to multitask.
- Have an outgoing, positive, friendly, and enthusiastic personality.
- Be able to maintain basic safety response initiatives in an emergency.
- Be willing to follow General Manufacturing Protocols (GMP) in restricted areas and safety protocols specific to the Waterbury factory.
- Be able and willing to work outside and in traffic or parking areas of the operation.
- Be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for up to 8 hours per day.
- Be available to work evenings, holidays, and at least one weekend day per week.
Responsibilities
- Complete daily Scoop Shop tasks, including register transactions, taking orders, scooping ice cream, preparing menu items, producing baked goods, and interacting with customers.
- Perform daily upkeep and cleaning, and report maintenance concerns.
- Complete opening and closing procedures, including preparation, cleaning, restocking, and dishwashing.
- Act as a line greeter during busy periods and assist guests with their Scoop Shop orders.
- Follow operating protocols for store and staff appearance, cash handling, customer service, cleanliness, safety, merchandising, and production of waffle cones, novelties, and baked goods.
- Provide a fun, safe, clean, high-energy experience that encourages consumer loyalty and excellent guest experiences.
- Participate in basic safety training and follow safety protocols, including emergency response initiatives for Hospitality operations.
- Support company safety goals by consistently demonstrating safe work behaviors.
- Assist guests and communicate the exit strategy in the event of an evacuation.
