About The Position

United Schools (United) is a nonprofit organization in Columbus, Ohio, operating public charter schools aimed at closing the opportunity gap. The mission of all United campuses is to transform lives and our communities through the power of education, with a vision of 'For every child, an open door.' United currently manages four high-performing schools (two elementary, two middle) serving over 900 students, focusing on rigorous academics, joyful learning, intentional student support, and continuous improvement. The School Director (SD) position at United Schools is a leadership role responsible for a United campus and its team. The SD ensures thoughtful curriculum development, rigorous instruction, positive school culture, efficient operations, and strong student and family relationships. This role involves managing and growing administrative and teaching staff, setting the campus's direction and vision, and utilizing data to drive continuous improvement for students and families, all while maintaining alignment with United Schools' mission and vision.

Requirements

  • Holds a B.A./B.S. degree.
  • Has a combination of at least five years of proven school leadership and teaching experience in urban settings.
  • Emphasis on data-driven instruction and demonstrable gains in student achievement.
  • Familiarity and success with, or commitment to, implementing the core tenets of United’s instructional leadership model as outlined in Leverage Leadership and Get Better Faster.
  • Committed to using data-driven instructional practices and the techniques outlined in Teach Like a Champion 3.0 to improve student outcomes.
  • Relentless in writing, refining, and internalizing curriculum, lessons, and assessments.
  • Open and committed to implementing frequent feedback from team members.
  • Communicates effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Comfortability with Google products for effective communication and completion of job responsibilities.
