About The Position

First Student is hiring a part-time School Bus Monitor/Aide in Catskill, New York. The monitor assists the bus driver in providing a safe journey for students traveling to and from school. No prior experience is required; industry-leading safety and training programs are provided. The position guarantees five hours per school day and pays $18.50–$19.50 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. The schedule is flexible split shifts for morning and afternoon routes on weekdays, with no nights, weekends, holidays, or summers. The role requires English proficiency for training, safety communications, company policies, employment documents, and other job-related communications.

Requirements

• At least 21 years of age.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work flexible split shifts (AM/PM).
• Physical ability to assist students and perform emergency procedures.
• Friendly, reliable, and patient when working with children.
• Team-oriented with a focus on safety.
• English proficiency for training, safety communications, company policies, employment documents, and other job-related communications.

• CPR/First Aid certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Help students safely board and exit the bus.
• Assist children with special needs during transport.
• Ensure students remain seated and follow bus safety rules.
• Communicate with the driver to maintain a safe, calm ride.
