About The Position

First Student is hiring a part-time School Bus Monitor/Aide in Gresham, Oregon. The role supports the bus driver in providing students with a safe journey to and from school. No prior experience is required; industry-leading safety and training programs are provided. The position has a flexible split-shift schedule covering morning and afternoon routes on weekdays, with no nights, weekends, holidays, or summers. The hourly rate is $24.00, with a training rate of $16.80 per hour; pay may depend on experience and qualifications.

The monitor helps students board and exit safely, assists children with special needs during transport, and encourages students to remain seated and follow bus safety rules. The role involves communicating with the driver to maintain a safe, calm ride and providing care and encouragement to students. English proficiency is required for training, safety communications, company policies, employment documents, and other job-related communications.

Requirements

• At least 21 years of age.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work flexible split shifts (AM/PM).
• Physical ability to assist students and perform emergency procedures.
• Friendly, reliable, and patient when working with children.
• Team-oriented with a focus on safety.
• English proficiency for training, safety communications, company policies, employment documents, and other job-related communications.

Nice To Haves

• CPR/First Aid certification preferred.

Responsibilities
