About The Position

Assist the driver in the safe operation of a school bus route and manage students as defined or identified by the school. The role supports the safe transportation of children to and from school and involves working with students, drivers, school personnel, and parents. The position includes helping with bus inspections and student loading and unloading, including wheelchair lift use; monitoring student behavior; conducting emergency evacuations; attending safety and training meetings; and cleaning the interior of the bus. The role may also include other specialized functions required by contract.

Requirements

Ability to work early morning hours.
Maintain a professional and respectful attitude toward fellow employees and customers.
Dress professionally and appropriately for a business environment.
Ability to use or learn to use the internet, additional programs as required, office equipment, fax machines, phones, and other electronic devices.
Ability to successfully complete a dexterity test and DOT physical and comply with the drug-free workplace policy.
Ability to communicate in English with passengers, parents, school officials, dispatch, and the driver.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

Learn and follow a route sheet or electronic routing device.
Manage students and communicate behavior problems to the driver.
Assist with pre-trip and post-trip bus inspections, including child checks, CSRS, and wheelchair lifts.
Assist students with loading and unloading, including use of the wheelchair lift.
Cooperate and communicate with school personnel, parents, and students.
Attend safety and training meetings.
Conduct emergency evacuations from the bus, including through the emergency door.
Clean the inside of the bus, including sweeping, dusting, and cleaning windows.
Perform other specialized functions as required by contract.
Perform job duties in accordance with company policies and procedures, OSHA guidelines, and applicable federal and state laws.
