School-Age Childcare Site Director – After School
About The Position
Healthy Kids Programs is hiring a School-Age Childcare Site Director for its After School Program at Oxmoor Valley Elementary School in Birmingham, Alabama, for the 2026–2027 school year. The program follows the school calendar and runs Monday through Friday from 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM. This is a part-time, non-exempt position paying $17.00–$20.00 per hour. The Site Director facilitates engaging activities from the Healthy Kids Curriculum, creates a safe and supportive environment, follows applicable program and school policies, and supports program operations. The role suits people who enjoy working with children, building relationships with families, supporting student growth, and collaborating with a team.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1–3 years of experience working with children in a school, childcare, camp, or youth program setting.
- Calm, flexible, and resourceful in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to pass required background and fingerprint clearances.
Nice To Haves
- Some college or early childhood coursework.
- Some experience in a lead or supervisory role.
- Familiarity with before- and after-school program environments.
- Knowledge of state childcare licensing or school-age care regulations.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate hands-on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum, including fitness, STEAM, academic, art, and other group activities, as well as homework completion.
- Provide a safe, healthy, and fun environment and act as a positive role model for children.
- Observe state guidelines, Healthy Kids Extended Day Program policies, and host school policies.
- Support program operations, which may include attendance records, registration, and staffing responsibilities.
