About The Position

The School Age Child Care Program Assistant facilitates lesson plans for an assigned group of children in a creative and stimulating environment. The role provides direct supervision and leadership, helps maintain a safe and clean program environment, and builds positive relationships with children, parents, staff, and school administration. The position is part-time, generally scheduled Monday through Friday before and after school for about 20 hours per week. Additional hours may be required.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age; applicants under 18 must have valid New York State Working papers.
• Experience working with elementary school-age children.
• Meet qualifications in compliance with licensing requirements of the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS).
• Successfully complete OCFS comprehensive background clearance requirements before beginning work at the program site.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate daily and weekly lesson plans for children in a creative and stimulating environment.
• Provide direct supervision and leadership to an assigned group of children.
• Clean and disinfect commonly used surfaces in accordance with department protocol.
• Maintain clean and organized program and work areas and ensure PPE compliance.
• Provide a safe environment for activities, enforce safety rules, and report and treat injuries.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with children, parents, staff, and school administration.
• Maintain all required certifications.
• Attend and participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
• Carry out other tasks as assigned.
