About The Position

The Scheduling Coordinator is responsible for supporting all department/clinic staff and providers who utilize the schedule for Endoscopy procedural areas. This role is highly focused on customer service and achievement of perioperative utilization metrics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree plus three (3) years of experience in patient registration, scheduling, or billing in a healthcare environment
  • OR High school graduate, GED, or formal education equivalent plus (7) seven years of training and/or experience in business office administration, customer service, or related work of which three years’ experience is in patient registration, scheduling, or billing in a healthcare environment

  • Persons must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules, reschedules, and coordinates appointments using hospital software by performing visit notifications to patients and inputting/updating accurate patient information.
  • Works patient depot and maintains snap board for endoscopy.
  • Schedules tests, issues prep instructions, and mails out no show letters.
  • Blocks schedules in EPIC as appropriate.
  • Verifies Insurance and explains benefits.
  • Enters scheduling criteria collaborates with authorization team to determine benefit and authorization information.
  • Compiles medical and maintenance reports.
  • Coordinates referrals, communicates with referring physicians, and maintains records for tracking patients.
  • Coordinates outside records and documentation for capsule endoscopies and ensures documents are entered into EPIC.
  • Ensures complete and accurate data entry into OP time.
  • Attend required trainings.
  • Attend staff meetings, participates in orientation and training for new staff, completes annual educational needs assessment and skill assessment.
  • Maintains required job skill competencies.
  • Completes and maintains documentation of continuing education hours.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
