SAP OTC Architect

Tessera Labs
•$150,000 - $200,000

About The Position

Tessera Labs is seeking an SAP Order-to-Cash Architect to own the OTC domain across multiple customer engagements concurrently. The role focuses on the flow from lead and order capture through pricing, availability, delivery, billing, and cash application, including the customer-specific development accumulated around those processes. Most engagements involve ECC-to-S/4HANA transformation. The architect assesses whether existing customizations reflect genuine business requirements or historical workarounds, then designs an appropriate conversion path—brownfield, selective data transition, or greenfield—and explains its costs and trade-offs. The architect works with Tessera’s AI agents and platform, applying business and architectural judgment to decisions the platform cannot make independently. Field expertise and lessons are fed back into platform checks, patterns, rules, and accelerators. The role is measured by durable target-state OTC designs that customer architects support and that sales operations, logistics, and billing teams actually adopt. The position spans OTC solution ownership; ECC-to-S/4HANA assessment and conversion architecture; platform enablement and product input; and customer adoption and knowledge transfer. It includes coordinating with Forward Deployed Engineers, customer architects, Technical Program Managers, the Principal Architect, and distributed delivery teams, as well as supporting pre-sales on SAP opportunities with an OTC component.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of SAP experience centered on order-to-cash, including architect-level ownership on at least two full-lifecycle implementations, conversions, or transformations.
  • Deep, current, hands-on SAP SD expertise, including sales document and item category configuration, copy control, condition-technique pricing, availability check, delivery and goods issue, billing and billing plans, intercompany, returns and complaints, partner determination, and output determination.
  • Working knowledge of adjacent MM, FI-AR, and CO areas that OTC processes depend on.
  • Demonstrated hands-on ECC-to-S/4HANA OTC experience, including work on real estates and SD simplification items such as SAP Credit Management (FSCM), Settlement Management and condition contracts, Revenue Accounting and Reporting, GTS, BRF+ output management, document status table removal, pricing data model changes, and advanced ATP.
  • Practical command of at least one S/4HANA transition approach—brownfield conversion, selective data transition, or greenfield—and an informed understanding of why a customer might choose another approach.
  • Familiarity with readiness and pre-check tooling, custom code analysis, and realistic high-volume OTC cutover windows.
  • Command of the OTC data model and integration surface, including sales, delivery, billing, and pricing tables and document flow; customer master and Business Partner conversion; IDoc and EDI flows; and enhancements and user exits.
  • Fluency in the business processes behind OTC configuration, including pricing and discounts, credit and blocks, third-party and intercompany flows, returns, rebates, revenue recognition, billing, disputes, and collections.
  • Senior client-facing presence and ability to work with customer architects, business owners, and finance stakeholders, including communicating difficult decisions while maintaining relationships.
  • Evidence of driving customer adoption after go-live.
  • Ability to manage several engagements concurrently.
  • Ability to learn a new AI platform quickly and become fluent in Tessera’s platform within the first months.
  • Excellent verbal and written business English and strong presentation skills for business and technical audiences.
  • Experience with distributed onshore, nearshore, and offshore delivery teams, with strong asynchronous communication discipline.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Delivered OTC on at least one completed S/4HANA conversion or implementation that went live.
  • Experience with more than one S/4HANA transition route and with both S/4HANA Private Cloud and Public Cloud, including understanding how RISE affects engagement delivery.
  • Industry experience in high-tech and semiconductor, life sciences, industrial manufacturing, consumer products and distribution, or subscription and usage-based models.
  • Exposure to adjacent SAP capabilities such as Variant Configuration and CPQ, Transportation Management, Extended Warehouse Management, Global Trade Services, Convergent Invoicing, or SAP Subscription Billing.
  • Experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition in SAP, including Revenue Accounting and Reporting.
  • Customer master and Business Partner conversion experience (CVI), including partner-function and reconciliation-account decisions during consolidation.
  • High-volume EDI and B2B integration experience and experience with a third-party tax engine such as Vertex or Avalara.
  • Experience partnering with AI, automation, or RPA tools in enterprise delivery.
  • SAP Activate or equivalent implementation methodology experience.
  • SAP certifications, such as S/4HANA Sales or Order Fulfilment.
  • Spanish, Portuguese, or German language skills.

Responsibilities

  • Own the functional and architectural direction of OTC across several concurrent engagements, covering Sales, Pricing, Availability, Logistics Execution, Billing, Accounts Receivable, and related credit, tax, revenue, and collections processes.
  • Design target states and transition paths, weighing customer requests, current-system behavior, and business value.
  • Review functional specifications, define OTC data and open-document conversion, reconciliation, and cutover approaches, and maintain architectural integrity throughout delivery.
  • Work with Forward Deployed Engineers, Tessera AI agents, and customer architects, providing direct OTC expertise.
  • Own OTC integrations, including EDI and IDoc flows, tax engines, payment and banking, CRM and commerce front ends, transportation and warehouse systems, and downstream finance; identify dependencies and risks early.
  • Serve as the primary OTC counterpart for Technical Program Managers.
  • Lead OTC discovery on ECC estates, including custom code and enhancement inventory, interface mapping, data quality, process debt, and business impact.
  • Own SD-relevant simplification items end to end and translate them into scope, effort, and risk.
  • Distinguish requirements from historical habits and recommend what to retain as standard, preserve as differentiating, or retire.
  • Architect and explain the trade-offs among system conversion, selective data transition, and new implementation, including implications for high-volume OTC estates.
  • Own the OTC data approach, including customer master and Business Partner conversion, partner relationships, open orders, deliveries, and receivables, through conversion design and reconciliation.
  • Use evidence to challenge customer plans that are not viable given their data.
  • Contribute OTC expertise to the Tessera platform and turn field findings into product checks, patterns, rules, and accelerators.
  • Support pre-sales for SAP opportunities with OTC components by advising on scope, approach, effort, and risk.
  • Develop fluency in the Tessera platform and help others understand its OTC capabilities.
  • Make adoption a deliverable: establish the new design as the default for sales operations, logistics, and billing teams and retire workarounds.
  • Identify and address causes of stalled adoption, including process, skills, trust, or product gaps.
  • Develop customer-side advocates and superusers who can own the design after the engagement.
  • Provide engagement staffing input to Center of Excellence capacity planning, including required OTC skills, sequence, and duration.
