About The Position
The Sanitation Worker performs routine manual work collecting and disposing of refuse. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Sanitation Supervisor. The position is in the Department of Public Works and is classified as a labor position; no Civil Service exam is required. The starting salary is $46,434, and the role includes a CSEA benefits package.
Requirements
- Ability and willingness to perform routine manual work.
- Ability to lift heavy weights.
- Willingness to work under all weather conditions.
- Physical strength and endurance, and good physical condition.
Responsibilities
- Carry containers of refuse to the curb.
- Lift refuse containers from the curb to the truck.
- Empty refuse containers into trucks and return the empty containers.
- Distribute loads on trucks.
- Feed refuse into the hopper.
- Clean the truck after each shift, as needed.
- Perform related work as required.
